FAQ

WHY GIBSONMMA?

GibsonMMA takes the best of all aspects of combat (punching, kicking, elbows, knees, takedowns, striking on the ground, positioning, and submissions.)

These techniques are tested against the best fighters in the world, and then incorporated into our constantly evolving system. This enables us to teach you "The most complete self-defense system available today."
GibsonMMA provides the public with an art and place where men, women, and children can train for real combat and self-defense situations.
For the first time, the art of MMA is being taught in Canada. GibsonMMA is taught by dedicated and qualified instructors.
Our instructors field test their techniques in both real combat situations, as well as world professional NHB tournaments, and fights. Realistic, effective and proven techniques are the foundation of Gibson Kickboxing · MMA.
Our program emphasizes conditioning, effective upright, and ground-fighting skills, based on our system of EQUAL STAND EQUAL GROUND. At Gibson Kickboxing & MMA we provide you with the ultimate in martial arts cross training.
Through our 50/50 system you will become a complete martial artist. Unlike most martial arts schools you will be trained in stand up fighting skills (punches, kicks, elbows and knees) as well as ground fighting skills (takedowns, positioning, submissions and striking on the ground).
Because of the constantly evolving nature of the art, there is something to learn for beginners and advanced practioners.

WHAT DO YOU TEACH?

The word MMA is a Greek word, and when translated it means "all powers" or "all powerful". MMA was a sporting event, which was first introduced in the ancient Greek Olympic games 648 BC. Gladiators (combatants) would fight their hearts out for victory.

HOW DO I TEST FOR MY RANK?

Every 4-6 months there is a test.

Only after being evaluated by Mr. Gibson, one will be allowed to test. This eligibility differs from person to person.
Tests are 3 - 4 hours long and are broken up into stand up techniques, cross fighting, muay thai sparring, neck wrestlilng, ground techniques, submission wrestling, and MMA sparring (red shirt and above only).

We guarantee that yellow shirt rank tests are harder than most black belt tests held by other schools.
